Solicited Corporate Credit Rating for B1GAS S.P.A.: B1- (First Issuance)
modefinance published the Solicited Corporate Credit Rating of B1GAS S.P.A. on the website and the rating assigned to the entity is B1- (First Issuance). The analysis highlights that the company has an adequate financial position, demonstrating the capacity to withstand adverse economic conditions in the medium and long term.
B1GAS (hereinafter also referred to as "the Company"), active in the sale of natural gas and electricity since 2010, has progressively consolidated its presence in the retail market, specializing particularly in the condominium and multi-unit residential building segment. Its business model integrates energy procurement, supply management, customer support, and energy services, supported by investments in digitalization and process efficiency. The Company has an equally divided ownership structure and a well-defined governance framework, further strengthened by the presence of a Board of Statutory Auditors. At year-end 2025, the Company demonstrated an established market position and a growth-oriented profile, supported by service quality and continued commercial development.
Key Rating Assumptions
In 2025, B1GAS reported an overall balanced financial profile, supported by the strengthening of shareholders’ equity, which increased to €10.39 million, and the reduction in bank debt to €2.41 million. Net financial debt declined to €2.15 million, with a net financial debt-to-EBITDA ratio of 0.68x, indicating sound debt sustainability. Liquidity remained adequate, with a current ratio of 1.15x, although the high concentration of current assets in trade receivables and the seasonal nature of the business require continuous monitoring of working capital. From an income statement perspective, revenues increased by 27% to €78.47 million, while EBITDA rose by 21.73% to €3.17 million. The Company closed the year with a net profit of €1.96 million, while ROE increased to 18.89% and ROI stood at 8.12%, confirming an overall satisfactory profitability profile.
B1GAS S.P.A. has a straightforward ownership structure, with Mr. Francesco Borrelli and Mr. Massimiliano Borrelli holding a 50% interest in the Company, as members of its management team and shareholders. The Company also has a collegial supervisory body, namely a Board of Statutory Auditors chaired by Mr. Salvatore Di Carlo.
B1GAS demonstrates a stronger position in terms of scale compared with its peer group, supported by growth in revenue. Solvency and profitability are broadly in line with sector medians, indicating an overall balanced financial profile.
Between late 2025 and 2026, the energy market has been characterized by growing electricity demand and the rapid expansion of renewable energy, particularly solar photovoltaic and wind power. However, fossil fuels continue to play a central role, while geopolitical tensions in Iran and restrictions affecting the Strait of Hormuz are increasing energy-price volatility and inflationary pressures. In Italy, renewable sources account for 41% of electricity consumption. Nevertheless, the country’s continued reliance on natural gas is keeping prices high and has prompted the Government to postpone the closure of certain coal-fired power plants to safeguard energy security.
From a macroeconomic perspective, the Italian economy recorded weak growth in the first quarter of 2026, driven primarily by the services sector. Manufacturing, household consumption, and investment were adversely affected by rising energy costs and international uncertainty. The Bank of Italy forecasts GDP growth of 0.5% in both 2026 and 2027, followed by 0.8% in 2028.
